when your a moderator you have options on the bottom of the topic to delete, close or move the topic

what moderators can do depends on what kind of options the administrators allow them to have
meaning for example: sometimes moderators can ban members but only if administrators allow them to

Ok.But do I have to know or be the admin's friend to become a moderator?

No, you don't really have to be his friend, although most of us knew him a long time before becoming moderators. When we are in need of a new moderator (which we currently are not), we look at who is helpful and who we think would be a good moderator. These persons are usually very active persons, but they post useful posts. Most of the time they have been members for a long time too. We also somewhat look at how good the persons jugdement of things are...
Also, many moderators on this board have boards for their emulators or project hosted here, and thus gain right to moderate their own board.

A moderator here only has a number of boards assigned to him, and he can not moderate boards which he is not assigned to.

I was a strange case. I'm not particularly helpful, nor do I really like anyone here, but I felt obliged to provide sexual favors for the staff when large sums of money were sent my way. Still not sure why they sent me money, some nonsense about a "cute little bum," or something like that. Anyway, next thing I know I'm a moderator, and Martin says: "the pay is lousy, but the fringe benefits make it sooo worthwhile," and he was right! Now I'm receiving sexual favors from the new recruits. So, if any of you feel so inclined, I'll send you my addy and we can *discuss* your potential moderatorship. I promise to make it a night to remember. :)
