controller problem in some menus

In certain games, or certain parts of games, it is acting like the analog stick is stuck to the left, so it keeps cycling through the items on the menu. In these games when I get to gameplay it's fine, and it's not noticible at all on other games. Examples are putting in initials for a record time in Waverace, menu in super smash brothers, and all the menu screens in wwf no mercy. Any way to fix this?

Whoops left out another bit of info here, and that is it does the same thing I use keyboard input. And if it was just too sensitive, I would constantly be veering left in mario kart, etc.
