Jimbot’s Tournaments

Well, gang, another tournament has shaped up very nicely now, and it looks as if Mike Oxbig has on his hands the first of very many successful tournaments. When Raw64life first IM’ed me, he said that he was going to do a tournament. Immediately I started to get excited at the thought. He was the perfect person to do it! I began to post after all of his posts, celebrating the genius of this idea. Man, I was pimping the tournament like nobody’s business. Soon, the tournament was filled and it had 32 people, the fastest ever for a tournament to be filled up that high in that shirt a period.

But, the purpose of this article is not to talk about my exploits, but of those who are participating. Although that does include myself, I don’t stand a chance against some of the competitors. Frizzle, cHaos, nico, Mister Butlertron, moogle, Jaime, and Eva all are very good prospects for the next tournament. cHaos should be able to wrap up the entire semifinals, but Jaime and Frizzle could prove to be a fierce competition, but moogle and Eva could also be contenders. If moogle was on his game like I have seen him play in the off season, he should be able to dominate with the little creampuff. However, if he’s as shady as he was in the Third installment of my tournaments, he’s gonna be out soon. Mister Butlertron is also going to be a tough one to beat, considering that he practically rapes me as much as the best do in a match-up.

However, there are a lot of newbies to this tournament, ones I’ve never seen before. Will they rocket through the rankings like Jaime did in my third tournament? Or will they all fizzle out and be overtaken by the much-experienced veterans who know the ropes. The first round is like basketball in the first week of preseason. Everyone is judged on how well they look, who they beat, and there is always one player who awes audiences with his l33t skillz. Like LeBron to basketball was Jaime to SSB. Will there be a new contender this round? Will we discover some legend, as past tournaments have proven to reveal? Or will the SSB scene stay the same uninspiring event it has been in past weeks?

This tournament should prove to be the jolt we need to re-ignite the SSB Tournament scene. Too long have 3% of games have been PJ64k games. Too long has MAME ruled the internet light waves. This tournament, coupled with the release of the legendary 1964 1.0.0, should be the dawning of a new era in online gaming. Instead of the amount of (SsB) union members being in the 30’s, it will be in the 130’s. Hopefully, with time, names such as Raw64life and Jimbot will be well-known for their tournaments, and beginning the spread of the use of internet N64. Such names as cHaos, FragMasterGen, and JaimeHR will be legendary for their game-playing ability and tournament status. Hotquik, schibo, and rice will no longer be names that only a select few learn about. Hopefully, with time, these names will become household names in high school and college gamers. Hopefully, with time, we won’t all end up sued.

And so, I come back to my predictions about this tournament. I have analyzed the brackets intuitively, and have made my prediction. With the release of the brackets comes the release of this article. You can see it below, but as you can also see, the match-up between JaimeHR and cHaos remains in the semifinals, not only to prevent the whole tournament to become automated but also to give the second half of the tournament a little spice. Frizzle, Mister Butlertron, moogle, nico, Mike Oxbig, Mastertune, and Links Sanity are all of similar skill and ability. You can see the upsets, too; the biggest of which is Jaime over cHaos. I’m just getting a feeling about him, don’t know why. Also, moogle and Frizzle in the final four could be intense, especially if Mister Butlertron gets overturned in the quarters.

(Emutalk doesnt support the spaces for brackets, its now a picture)

i also have the same predictions
but i dont think mister butlertron would make it to the semis just b/c i have played him and there is a way to beat him except it requires patience (if u want to know how to beat him, ask me!!)

Pretty cool except the image doesn't show unless you copy and paste the link to the browser. Save for a few matches, I pretty much agree with those predictions.

ooh, I suggest that in the later stages of the tourney, ppl make videos of the games being played. Probably only a couple of ppl have the ability to do so, but i think that would be awesome.

edit:
i like your enthusiasm for project64k and smash on kaillera jimbot.
i feel the same way, as smashers on kaillera can be few and far between

well i'll do my part and keep a game going on emulation64.com whenever i can

edit2:
