What up everyone. Seeing how as of late there's been a whole bunch of guys wanting to do a SSB Tourney but no one with a clear command of how to run one since Jimbot and TekkaBlade stopped doing theirs, I've decided to try my luck at one. If you want in, simply read the rules below, then register...

________________________________________ ________________________________________ ____

Tourney Name:
E-Mail:
AIM:
Character(s) of Choice:
________________________________________ ________________________________________ ____

...if you want in, copy and paste the list above, and fill it out. This makes it 1200 times easier to contact people and helps people set up their matches. You can either E-Mail me (Raw64life@aol.com), sign up on this thread or IM me (AIM: Raw64life). Just make sure you give me all the info above.

- All the brackets and stuff will be kept on my stats site (http://www.geocities.com/raw64life) and this board
- If you think any of the rules should be changed, just let me know. I have no problem bending certain rules if a lot people want them changed
- There is no set date for the tourney to begin. It will start shortly after I get enough people (shooting for 32, but will do 16 if necessary) unless there are complaints

Rules
________________________________________ ________________________________________ ____

- At registration you must list your kaillera name, chracater of choice, AIM screenname and e-mail address
- You must be using the lastest version of the Project64k N64 emulator (version 0.13)
- You must be using the ROM "Super Smash Bros. (U) [!]"
- It is up to you to contact your opponent to set up a match. If you are having problems contacting your opponent, tell me and I will address the situation. Failure to complete the match before the deadline will result in a double disqualification unless I am notified beforehand of a legit reason as to why the match could not take place.
- If a double disqualification occurs, the person who was scheduled to play the winner of the match will receive a bye
- The match will be awarded to the player who wins 2 out of 3 games
- The only cheat codes to be turned on are the "Have All Characters" Gameshark code and the "Mushroom Kingdom" level code
- Both players will start with a stock of 5 lives at the beginning of every round
- You can pick a maximum of 3 different characters to use during the tourney
- You must select a stage that both you and your opponent agree on fighting in for every round
- In the event of desync, restart the match. If there are any problems with desync, such as desync occurring every time you try to play the match or a desync that occurred extremely close to the end of a match where the winner was clear, bring the problem to me
- In the event of outstanding lag, I trust that you guys will be able to solve the problem on your own
- After the match, you must report to me the match, the winner, and the loser. I will trust whomever reports the result of the match first as long as there is no argument from the opponent
- Rules are subject to change anytime bewteen now and when the tournament starts. I will never change the rules in the middle of the tournament

Yes, I completely support this tournament. Count me in, and in full favor!!!

This tournament is effectively, if you don't mind Mike, the replacement for the tournament I was going to do. He has the know-how and clear-headedness to do this well, and should be up to my quality. All who think well of me, consider this my tournament equivilent.

---From my post on his message board---
Let me be the first one to praise and congratulate Mike Oxbig for finally making heads and tails of all of this mess. This tournament, if everything goes correctly, which it most undoubtedly will, will be great. All people who wanted me to do another tournament, here you go. I couldn't think of a better person to do one, especially with webspace and a message board, and most importantly, a good head on his shulders. Everyone, feel free to sign up.

Nickname: Jimbot or Jimbot (SsB), you know who I am
Email: DewLuigi2002@yahoo.com
Aim: DewMOnkeyBoy
Characters: Blue Kirby, obviously. I, if I get good enough by the time it starts, might go with Blue Link or Bumblebee Ness if I felt so compelled. I will, however, have made by decision by then.

I will tell everyone I know about this.

whattabout items?
i suggest enabling the the mushroom kingdom cheat which also enables item select, and turning off all that nonsense.
items don't belong in a tourney

Jimbot

I concur, as long as everyone knows what it's there for and doesnt abuse it.

- Thanks for all the pimping Jimbot. Much appreciated.
- I have no problem with the Mushroom Kingdom. It's added to the rules.
- The thing about items is that a lot of people see items as part of the game and feel that if items are in the game, they should be able to be used. Unless there is an overwhelming demand to cut items out of the tourney, there going to stay in.

a hammer/beam sword/heart/ etc. could decide the tourney
the ability to turn on just bombs, very high is also part of the game.

or is the argument that, since items are on by default, then they should be used. if so then, the bonus characters are off by default so they shouldn't be used.

if item switch is in the game it should also be able to be used...for when you want to have matches that can't be decided by where the n64 decides to random spawn an item
"Event to determine who gets lucky by having a higher ratio of powerful items spawn in close proximity"
this game's winner is...Star of Invincibility!!

don't get me wrong, major props to rawlife for setting this up...i'm just trying to advocate the best ruleset here

I have to agree here, I always wanted to do no items, but it seemed like not enough people knew how to do cheats then. It is a pickle, no doubt about it. But, I guess I'll have to agree with what everyone wants to do.

0.13 is the newest, I betcha you havent used it yet. Check out all it's new stuff and download it here: http://www.geocities.com/dewluigi2002/EmulatorBasicsES013.html

- Yea, it's highly recommended that you know how to use PJ64k before the tourney. Don't make your tourney match the first time you ever use the emulator.
- Registration is going awesome. I've only had it up a day and I already have 14 people.

Edit: Make that 16. Half way there in less than 30 hours.
