Woudl you participate over Christmas Break in a tournment? Or would that cut into family time? We could use both new version's of the PJ64k and 1964, and some other stuff maybe, probly not. Should it be invitation only, and if you're not invited, you have to play me first to show your not a n00b? Yes, it's disriminating, but I think it's reasonable discrimination. No slow people, or people who ask, 'where's the romz?'. Wat do you think, should I do one? And what should the rules be. I will be analyzing who enters and bracket everyone accordingly, too. I might get some help on that.
Everyone who made it to the second round in any tournament is automatically invited, and some other people that I know, such as good people who got screwed in the first, or people who'v never done it before. If you have a (SsB) tag, you'll be invited, and if you want to be invited, and dont fall under these qualifications, then IM me.
I guess instead of an invition tournament, it's more of an IM me to enter tournament. You know me, DewMonkeyBoy.
The site will be in the same place, save for the new homepage name file.

where's the romz? :icecream:
I'm in. My recommendation would would be:
any character...!
1v1
item switch on; each player gets to turn one item off (or choose not to).
2 out of 3
each round will have a predecided level (ex. for the first round in the brackets, everyone plays kirby's stage 2 out of 3).
any stock under 6 is fine, but i'd prefer 4.
and any character!

We talked about it on AIM, i thinks its a great idea, I'd like to participate, I like the thought about item switch, maybe each player gets to turn on one item, barring itens like the babomb, dk hammer, health restorers, invinicbility star, etc.

About the items my suggestion would be to turn off heart, tomatoe, star and hammer and everything else on...
It would be interesting if we could change characters instead of having just one, but I think it should have a limit: once or twice max.
...and about the stages I think we could leave it the same as always, to have both players agree on it.
I think those rules would the tourney fair and just.

I don't understand. Why set all these limitations? What is the basis for having only one (or two) characters? I understand why some people think the heart and hammer are cheap, but why the character rule? I've played numerous games using numerous characters, and my opponent has never had a problem. Moreover, I have never heard of any tournament on any game that has enforced this rule (esp. evo2003). It's stupid and arbitrary.

I wouldnt mind going into this SSB tournament during the Xmas Break, It would give me a break from the reading that I will be doing during the break for my humanities course in University. I will only do it if 1964 has its new version out, Pj64K works the game slow with multiple users, I have never played N64 stuff online

You know what, now that I think about it, I really cant do one. not only do i have school with 4 AP classes in high school, i have cross country and then soccer, and a girlfriend, too (women!). so im not really swamped, but not only is it easier to do it when I can devote all the time I want to perfecting the site, analyzing the brackets, registering, fxing links, getting people to play, and general tourney stuff. Much easier to handle when your at home all day, instead of for a couple of hours before bedtime.

This time I'll also try to participate, but only with the new 1964, because PJ64k is just too slow for me :(.

pj64 1.4 is slow for me as well, but 1.5 runs friggin great.
dem boys need to release the source for 1.5 so our netplay won't be impeded...

Well, guys, all who posted on this board should officially check out this thread : http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?p=165772
this is effectively my replacement tournament. All who wanted me to do a tournament should definitely particepate in that one. It is the same quality as my tourneys, and perhaps better.
