An emulator is a program that emulates a videogame system, and the rom is the game. To play games on it you must aquire a rom of whatever game you are trying to play and then load it with the emulator. For project 64 you can play a lot of n64 games if you have a decent pc, but I'm not sure if your pentium 2 can play it, what is the speed on it and also what kind of gfx card do you have.

Oh and you can't ask for commercial game roms here (it's a bannable offence) :)

A rather simple answer to such a simple question. How do you get anything? Search. But we won't tell where nor how to get them.

It's against the rules.

Piss off please, no one is going to hold your hand. You'll find what you need the same way the rest of us did: search, search, and search some more, so stop asking and start googling. :freak:

Allnatural why you're so heartless? People need love and care, give 'em love, give 'em care...

I can see why Allnatural is "hard", I had to do the search thing when I first got into emus. I had no clue what I was doing, or if even it was gonna work--and nobody to hold my freakin' hand!!! A couple of weeks later, I had a decent idea of what emulation was and how to "obtain" roms. Problem was, none of my "smart" friends had a clue what emulation was (n00bs).
Now you have a message board that you can ask question on how to get started, and some of the people here will even hold your hand. To me, it seems as if our community has gotten wimpy and stupid. People are to freakin' lazy to do anything, they want their crap handed to them on a silver plate when they snap.
Anyway, am I the best? Heck no, I still learn new ways to find things, I visit new sites, and I meet new people. The emulation scene isn't static, it's constantly changing, and if you wanna keep up, you've gotta invest time in it.

you are right, the best to know about emulation is search, aint that hard to find what you are looking for either these days, unlike some years ago...

Yes, about 8 years ago, it was "emu-what?" I remember the night UltraHLE came out...I went back to check the page again and it had already been discontinued :( It's kinda neat to say I witnessed history with the rest of the scene :)

People, really.
We *will* help you to get your emulators started. We *will* answer any questions concerning emulation.
But we will *not* help with finding roms. *This* is against the rules.
If there's anything else, lend us a hand, and we'll help you. That's what the messageboard is for. But not for helping find roms.
Just start googlin'!

so if you want to find banned websites like this:
http://www.kazaalite.tk/
google is no longer your best alternative.
the other thing i recommend you do is try to repeal the dmca, particularly if you're an american.
the internet isn't paper, but the bush regime would burn it if it was.

Err, so don't post "banned" sites. Besides google, there's lots of other search engines out there such as altavista, and more.

Since this thread is going nowhere, I got a question. I hadn't kept up with Kazaalite.tk ...what happened?

kazaalite ++ (see earlier link) is the improved/hacked version of kazaa. google was ordered by the us gov to not provide links to it, under the dcma. therefore, google is limited in it's primary function as a web crawler, through censorship. i.e. google is not the most efficient tool for certain jobs, anymore.
happy 5th birthday google, you have been banished to the history pile until you move all your servers to a new country, preferably one with out draconian software censorship.
everyone get out and vote next time, so bush can loose again and institute more dictatorial laws.
i'm waiting for bush to make minorities wear special patches like hitler did.
yay america!

So what other search engine do you recommend? I didn't know that, until know.. :o It's sad how things are going under the influence of DMCA.

Search for it on Google though, and it will tell you they have filtered the sites, it will then show you a list of the sites they had to filtered (by showing you the letter). Sounds like a pretty damn clever way to censor without censoring to me.

That just sucks...Google has been my best buddy... :(
As I've said before, fileshare will always live on, no matter what. The government can try to shut it down, but we have something they don't. We have a passion to do it. Why else would you find illegal games ( :-p ) and play them on a program that doesn't run them pefect (I'm not bashing emu authors, you guys are awesome)? It's cause you love this stuff. You're a true geek at heart.
I have mixed feelings about sharing music, software, and all that, and I can't really tell them on the net cause...HEY, what's that cop doing outsi
