Hi there,
I recently got the idea of creating a new website related to emulation. My idea is to create icons and descriptions for all the emu-related file-types out there, and put those icons in a DLL file, and export .reg keys for the file-descriptions and links to the right icons in the DLL. I already made several icons/descr. for emu-filetypes I use, like .gba, .sav, .smc, etc. So, when using my icons and regfiles, an iconless 'GBA file' turns into a 'GBA ROM dump' file with a nice little icon of a GBA gamecart. :) I might also make an HTML based archive of known emu-filetypes with descriptions.
What I'd like to ask here is if anyone wants to join me in making the site and icons. Maybe someone with a little programming experience could make a nice GUI for selecting the icons you want in Windows (or maybe something more simple with batchfiles).
I've got quite a bit experience with making websites (http://nintendocursors.cjb.net), but I'd really like to make this site with one or more other people. Besides, I don't even know half the emu-related files that exist, so help in that way is also welcome, but please don't mail me about that now, it'll come later when the site is already up.
So, if you're interested in helping me, please mail me at fuzzypede[-AT-]zonnet[NoSpamm!].nl. I hope my e-mail address is understandable :). Please do not mail me with new ideas, since these will be added later, when I found someone (or more) who'd like to join me. And I really need some serious people, not some 13-year old kiddies who have no creative ideas/capabilities. You can join me when can/want to do one of the following:
-you can make websites.
-you want to make a user-friendly GUI for the icon-selection (you could also make a choice for users to input their emulator/program that should be associated with the filetype).
-you like my idea or have some ideas yourself.
-you would like to do some research on different emu-related filetypes and what they are.
-You can create icons for the filetypes.
-Maybe things I forget to mention.
-You are a serious guy who really wants to help.
Oh, the website will be called either EmuIcons or EmuExtensions. I don't have a host yet, but maybe we could try at EmuHQ or Retrogames.
