There was a movie about Zelda once (wasn't that great though)
but you never know if it might come.

I remember the Mario movie, Zelda doesn't have a story that would translate to a movie well,

dave_luther

yeh, the mario movie was a big disappointment, but there is more plot in zelda than mario

Articuno_Master

I think they should make a movie that would be awsome i totally agree 100%!:colgate:

I'd love to hear the dialog! I mean Link is practically mute in all of the zelda games. His speech would be mostly limted to: ha! heh! heeyah! And I can see Navi yelling "Hey Leeesten!" LOL. But anyways let's cast some people who would play the parts for fun.

Here's my cast (Everyone list yours too!)

Link: Leonardo Dicaprio (I hate him but he came to mind first)
Zelda: Britney Spears (for the hell of it)
Navi: Julia Robets (played Tinkerbell in "Hook")
Ganondorf/Ganon: Dwayne Johnson "The Rock"
Deku Tree: James Earl Jones
Mido: Vern Troyer "Minni-me"

Not sure about other characters. I'll list them as I go.

RPGlover12
January 3rd, 2002, 16:39
well here is my list
1 link : tom hanks
2 zelda : cameron diaz
3 gandordof(hope i spelled him right) : the rock

i can't of any other now
but i think its goo d
;)

Putting the rock in the movie would ruin it IMO...

I dont think A zelda movie would be possible. Story is way to weird but it might be possible for a animated movie about Zeldaor or maybe a 3d animated movie.

Dr.Zoidberg
January 11th, 2002, 05:42
if they made a movie, they should do it live action, with nods to the games stories, maybe with recurring minor characters.
like Lord of the Rings, in that movie, some little things were cut, but there was still small references to them.

Dr.Zoidberg
January 11th, 2002, 05:45
actually, I was thinking, and I reckon it would be cool for some fans to make their own movie.
there's plenty of talented people out there in the online community who could probably make it work.

movies and games should not co-exist with each-other. all attempts have failed. games dont make good movies and movies dont make good games. it's alwayse been like that.
why dont you people ever learn that!?

yogaman
January 14th, 2002, 20:08
Why not a zelda movie.... there was a FF movie (BAD) ..a mario movie (WORSE) and now ....well a zelda (******) ...??

okay, the story is complex .... i doubt that it will be a success, zelda has really achieved a name in the game industry... but is it known enough too drive people into the cinema ?? Imagin commericals with : now playing zelda ...80% would go saying: what a freakin' name, what a bs / 18% maby ...ah yes, I know it from the consoles...maby I'll check it out / and only the remaining 2% are fanatics (refering to blizz) ...they'll watch it for sure...... ;)

games dont make good movies and movies dont make good games

Ok the first part is mostly true with the only exception being Tomb Raider but it was good not great. As far as movies to games I have one word for you.....GOLDENEYE! even though many LAZY developers try to sell games on its license alone. *See Superman64 for details*

generally BAGG is right, with the exception of GoldenEye (no TR was not a good movie), movies dont make good games and vice versa. Just think about the nature of each media and u'll understand.

Kakarot, i am not aware of any Superman Cartoon movie, is it good?

There is no Superman cartoon movie based video game. I was just using an example of how game companies use a license like a movie to sell a game that no effort was put into. Superman64 has to have been one of THE WORST GAMES OF ALL TIME! for this very reason.

P.S. Let's not forget that Rouge Leader (another great movie based game) is based on the Star Wars movies. The bottom line is a game that's original or licensed based can be great but game turned into a movie is almost always just plain bad.

i know, just being scarcastic. Superman64 was not from a lack of effort, hell, it was one of the first games announced for the n64 and came out two-three year after n64 did. i think i was a bad idea to start with.

well the stars arew good but the story line plain sucks arse. i just want a zelda movie any zelda movie and not based on tri-forces idea. but the stars would be good and sarah michelle gellar will look good playin zelda   but david galager no fu**in way i want him to be adult link but haily joe osment as young link? hmm maybe some other person as adult link or heck just make a cartoon movie based on oot with those voices but hmm... i dont know anymore.

February 4th, 2002, 02:06
I really dont know what i was thinking with that plot idea either??? and the only reason i say David Galaghar as Link is because me and my friend always joke that he looks like him.maybe Val Kilmer. he was good with a sword in Willow. but it has to be live action.

gokuss4
February 4th, 2002, 05:36
val kilmer is way too old tri-force. but hmm how bout this for the actors of link

Young Link: Haily Joe Osborn (or however you say his name)
Adult Link: maybe that guy who played frodo on lotr ???

i dont know anymore maybe they should just compile up those people for voices for a zelda cartoon movie with great graphics

theres super heros in Capcom vs SNK? i should be going to the arcades more often???

no, but it dosent matter, capcom vs SNK 2 sucks freggin ass.
the gameplay is getting stinky with all those useless modes and choppy looking sprite animation, and i FUC_ING HATE 3D backrounds in 2D fighters.
i worry that mavel vs capcom 3 is going down the same road.

oh BTW: fuck the zelda movie, movies are just a waste of money for game developers & publishers. look at what happend to poor squaresoft! totaly bad move by them as they got fucked big time over it.
hopefuly nintendo aint stupid enugh to do something as lame as make a movie with their zelda franchise.
if so, let it be animated.

whats wrong with the pokemon movies? i like them, at least they were animated, but the mario movie was allright though i mean i watch if it is on and nothin else is on (if its on). also a zelda movie would be good, the cartoon was good too. and btw did link really have black hair back than ???

EdgeBlade
February 9th, 2002, 09:34
I think the only reason I like the Mario move is because I saw it when I was much younger, and then all I cared about was "Wow it's Mario!"

I have Final Fantasy on DVD too! I didn't really have money to spare when I saw it in the store and I was actually there to get a gift for someone else, but it was only $20 and I couldn't resist.

Vulcan Power
February 14th, 2002, 14:51
Sure they could make a movie. Look at Final Fantasy... those games are probably more involved than the Zelda series, yet they come out with a movie that's got a great plot, but yet is still very Final Fantasy like. I think it could work, but they would have to focus on one part of the entire Zelda story.. and not try to cram it all in.

Doomulation
February 27th, 2002, 03:27
Well, let's say, I didn't really like the Mario-movie. I kinda liked the FF-movie, but I was disappointed at it. Sheesh, FF is about magic! Not technology! If a movie were done from a game, then see to that it's like the game too!
A Zelda-movie wouldn't be too bad if it actually followed the concept of the games, I think...

no it isn't :P its alive i guess again lol, but i heard they would make a zelda movie only if warner bros had the rights or something like that ??? but it owuld be cool if they made a movie of a continuation of oot (not mom) i mean something in between so its a different plot but same setting, that would be a great movie to see. maybe that little bro from 7th heaven can play young link, christopher masterson can play adult link (he did good in dragonheart a new beginning) hes also the guy who plays the eldest bro on malcolm in the middle, not sure about the other actors. maybe what tri-force said in the past about all the actors besides young link and adult link.

ROFL!!!!! Batman wasnt even a movie to start with, it was a comic book, later a cartoon (an old one, not the one on Cartoon Network now), later a TV show, even later a movie, then yet another cartoon, followed by 4 more movies. Video games were all based on all these movies and TV shows not the other way around. Like gokuss4 said.

Resident Evil did really well. If you ask me, I'd say Hayden from Ep II would make a good Link cuz his height and he's a good actor (and young enough for the role). If the movie was made i hope they don't do bad casting like Spider-Man. Tobey Maguire seems half alive. Willem Defoe did the part very well. As long as they try not to depend too much on fans who know the story, the movie will do well. If they do, it'll be like a long cinematic.
