I suggest you use the eVoodoo 3.99 Beta version, as the text appears fine for me with SSB.

I just wanted to note that with Glide64 + eVoodoo 3.99 beta, Smash Brothers works correctly, but some things still do not, due to the incomplete second TMU, which means no multitexturing.

Multitexturing has never been available in eVoodoo, however. Which means there will be no benefit of trying to use earlier versions for such.
A general tip: For the newest Glide64, you should use eVoodoo 3.99. Alternatively, you can use an older version of Glide64 (3.1 I believe?) with eVoodoo 3.25. They both work well in such purpose...

Do not use Glide64 4.0+ with eVoodoo 3.25. They don't work right together. Glide64 3.1(WIP) is the most recent version that works (properly) with eVoodoo 3.25, but the buffer mode must be set to W-Buffer.
eVoodoo 3.99 (latest beta) w/ Glide64 4.2 works better than the above mentioned combination in most circumstances (it had too many problems on my Rage 128-based card, though.)
Wasn't Mcleod going to release 4.0 like a week after 3.99? Do we have any word on that?

Not what I've even read. McLeod released the 3.99 version so that people should rejoice a little. The eVoodoo project isn't his top priority anymore. You might see that McLeod is the author in other projects, too, see? Yes, the eVoodoo project was when he started, and now he wishes to do other things.
All in all, we don't know when eVoodoo 4.0 will come.

Yes, I know he's busy with other projects, and 4.0 is going to be the last version of eVoodoo, I didn't ask a simple question for a sarcastic answer.
This is why most freeware authors have learned never to say when the next version will be released :)

As I was saying, McLeod is not really working on eVoodoo. He feels as if he can ignore it and do other stuff, hence why the 4.0 version isn't coming any soon.
That's what I'm saying.

If I were him i'd just finish the software and then move on without having to worry about it. I'd want it completed as I intended. But i'm most definetely not him. Oh well, I am not 100% reliant on it for N64 emulation anymore, so we'll just have to wait.
Is he working on anything interesting?

He's working on uhle 2064. He also signed up for some new project that I don't remember...but I could always try to ask him what projects he's involved with when I see him :)
