It's simple. If it's a graphics problem, 99% it's a problem with the graphics plugin. Same goes for sound, same goes for controls. If it's some other weird problem, it may be the emulator or it may be a plugin. The wildcard in this is RSP emulation (which works with graphics and sound,) which is technically part of the emulator although it is a plugin, and can cause it's own graphics and sound bugs depending on the settings.
