Go to ms-dos (with a boot-disk if you have windows ME or newer), and type the following (press return after every command):
cd windows\system32
del evoodoo.cpl
And restart your computer, and everything is fixed!

no i have win2k sp4 running ntfs, anyway i wanted to know a "right" way to do it, why is that file being used.
I think it might be my defrag tool cos i found two references to the file from that section in the registry. when i next reboot i'll try again.

Open %windir%\control.ini and add:
[don't load]
evoodoo.cpl=no
Reboot and remove.

do a search in the windows/system32 folder and then delete it!
