impressive implementation of kaillera i must say !

I do have a problem though. Whenever i try to select the jabo direct input plugin to use for netplay all i get to choose from is the nrage plugin ! The jabo input plugin doesn't show up on the list even though the actual plugin is in the plugin folder. Please help, this has got me completely confused :plain:

that is a bug in 1.4 source base .. I will have to find 1.5 sometime

I'll do Mario Kart with you. Contact me at DewMonkeyBoy on AOLIM for my ISP, and we can see if it works.

ADDITION: I also found the maybe-secret-maybe-not 0.11. A little ingenuity and web page knowledge is all it needs. I'll see if its any different.

ADDITION #2: It seems to be bigger, but I'm behind a firewall... I'll have to trick my dad into getting it down, or figure out the password.

ADDITION #3: .1 is smaller because pj64 (not K) is also there. 0.1 has a debug function on it, so i guess its not as stable as 0.11. I would make both available to the public. Also 0.11 has little notes saying current problems with certain roms (its already there, it doesn't analyze your roms for you). I think that's it, I haven't been able to make it work because of the firewall, but I should have another report soon, with good info this time.

O ya, if you don't want me doing this, hotquik, just tell me, and I'll take it down. I haven't told anybody where 0.11 is tho.

Edit by Martin: Please do not attach huge bitmaps (this one was 1MB), people on slow connections and people who pay for bandwidth do not appreciate this.

Good job. Project 64 is the best N64 emulator so I'm glad someone is going to start working on it again. I've played a few games with Project 64k and have had no major problems with it.

The addition of Kaillera netplay is a great idea, but otherwise PJ64K seems to be no better than PJ64, and is probably worse in some ways because it's based on the 1.4 source code instead of 1.5. It's regrettable that the 1.5 source code hasn't been released. Maybe you could ask the PJ64 team if you could help them with/take over Project 64 or, barring that, at least have access to the 1.5 source code?

Anyway speaking of conkers bad fur day Who likes it i think its awsomeIt doesn't seem to load up when playing online and the first zelda i got across a bug u cant get out of the house without getting the map error and majora's mask It seems to work but if ur 2nd player u will see the player talking to someone and stuck on that talk.So you watch someone stand there while the 1st player is really moving and playing.I have only did this by starting a new game on majora's mask.I dunno if it does it out of town!






My favorite part on conkers is the big opera singing Poo :P good job for making the net ver.goodluck

After some debugging, I think this is a Windows bug.
try renaming "Jabo_DInput.dll" to "Jabo_DInput.dll2" :saint:

I had the bug where you cant select the jabo input plugin, to fix it I just enabled the "disable visual themes" option for the program (im on xp)

The netplay is awesome btw ive had no problems so far and its good speed :)

I tried it out last night... it works on 56k ! I couldn't believe it, I was playing Mario Kart and SSB basically perfectly. I was worried at first because one guy kept complaining that my high ping was making the game lag, but it turns out the guy complaining was using a sound plugin :satisfied :pj64: . That reminds me, is there going to be a PJ64k smiley?

Hi there Im at school, so I cant get the specs, but i dont think you need them. Why does this happen: I open pj64k .12, and i cant connect! Does this mean I'm behind a firewall? It didnt work with .1 and .11 either, so im probly behind a firewall. Does anyone know a way around this? Or is it possible to make a version that doesn't hit the firewall? Id like to kick my firend's ass in goldeneye in here, because im bored. Or, there might be another resaon, i might have missed a step.


It might be that i dont know what my full isp is. I have 10.2.3.45, but is there another part, like a ...45:XXX? Hope i gave you enough info.

If you cant connect, most likely is a kaillera issue. Anyway, golden eye isnt working on multiplayer :(

I'm here to report two bug with project 64 k 0.12 :blush:

The first bug appear in Super Smash Bros, the score wasn't the same in both or fourth player, and sometime the player fall in on the plateform :cry:

The second bug, is the screen position, for example in the mario party 3 (E), the down of the screen was not visible, and if i change the resolution, its the same. the bug appear also in super smash bros.

And to finish Mario kart works fine ;)

My last question is : Why have you not keep the Project 64 1.5 version ?

really weird bug, when I double click the pj64k exe sometimes it loads up pj641.4 (which I also had installed, to get plugins ..ect) don't know exactly how to reproduce this bug but has it happened to anyone else?

UPDATE: To get cheats with pj64k on netplay, you need to open pj64k, open the rom (ssb, for example), open cheats, turn on the cheats you want, leave the cheat window up, end emulation (on file toolbar), then run netplay, and go into a game. If the other person also has the cheats on, you can have people such as ness and luigi in ssb. If you see me in there, you can bet i have the cheats on, so play me! (I'm bored)

EDIT: The other person does have to have them on, tho. It is required.

UPDATE #2: To actually run the roms once you hit start game, you need to manually ope the rom to begin play (it doesn't automatically). This is a point that many people miss, and so thats why I usually host.

nope, cause I deleted the pj64 1.4 folder..... but What I think happened is that pj64 1.4 info is still in my registry. (btw it just happened as am typing this, am going to go and try to remove the info pj64 1.4 left in my registry) :doh:

i found that it was useless to turn on cheats for online play becuz what really happens is just desync becuz ppl who turn on the cheats will be able to use them while those who dont wont
so u have a bunch of games where a dude picks a secret character while to another person, that character isnt selectable and all this havoc happens as a result

Notice, i did say that the other person has on them on, but yes, i guess i didnt say you HAD to have both people do this. Yes, this is the case. If one person picks ness, for example, the other emu will think, in effect, that they have just pressed 'a' over a blank spot in the no-cheats emu. So the cheats emu starts while the no-cheats doesnt, and it screws up. Yes, you need to have ALL persons in the party to have cheats to actually have cheats.

well, I have five new questions.

Lets see who can tackle them.

1. How do you choose a game to host that doesnt pop up on the start a new game button when you want to host. I've heard people talking, oh, Mario Tennis works, but how do they host it? Its been prayin' on my mind.

2. Why is the pj64k in netplay graphics better than 1.4 or 1.5 just by myself!!!! In netplay, all of the shading is correct, everythings perfect execpt for the not seeing your own hand if your hosting or second player, but thats the oinly problem. With 1.5, the whole back of kirby is not colored, the shades are wrong, and a multitude of problems!!! what gives? How can just playing someone on the internet cause better graphics?

3. Does no sound speed things up with FPS during netplay? The easiest one I think.

4. In Mario Kart, it seems that only I have a half-a-second lag from pressing the button and executing. Therefore, I can't pummel people like I would like to do. Suggestions? Note: I haven't tried another plugin, I'll do that when...

5. Lately (10:25 PM Saturday night) the emulation64 server on k had 99 people on it. Therefore, I couldnt get in. Is there a problem? Or are there 99 pther losers that couldnt find dates?

Well I can answer 1. In P64k u have to select ure rom directory and/or refresh the rom list. I think then u have to restart kaillera and join the server and click create a game then go into sub menu of First letter of the ROM (eg S for Super Smash Bros) and then select the ROM.

just like cool_al said, the rom list that the kaillera window shows is the same one of the rom browser, so you have to refresh the directory and reload the kaillera window

:getlost: Are u sure? .... maybe the lag produced by the netplay lets you see other things that were there but were too fast for the human eye. Its just a theory :geek:

Yes. That happens both online and offline, cauz your pc has lees work to do.

This is lag is mainly due the network use. Try playing in a closer server.

This is off-topic too, but should answer Mez' question ;)

DeJap, the people who made the graphics pack, have also put out that translation patch. It's a WIP though - battles are not translated and look strange, menus might be (I forget). The dialogue is done, but in a very basic way - it's not up to the quality of Tales of Phantasia's translation for example.

There will eventually be a proper translation patch - I'd wait for that instead of spoiling your enjoyment with this early patch.

There has been a "recent" update showing progress on the battle menus and so forth on the official site here. (http://www.dejap.com) Expected release date is some time in 2003.

ok, what server are you guys using now? For some reason, the server at emulation64 doesnt work and neither does emu-nation.com

Those are the only two that have people that have pj64k!!!

why did this happen?

I dont know. We are now lone free rangers until we decide which server we wanna use...

It seems you cant have a computer player. The random ness of the selection desynces it.

Only some people have to actually go to open rom under file. Somtimes, it automatically does it, but sometimes it just sits there until you start it. This is why the waiting for others to connect box comes up.

The emulation64.com server is back up.

I'm still king of MOST everyone on the server. I've only been beaten four times during one on one combat. In 4p, i seem to be only 66%.

I some other stuff to say, but i cant remeber it... If i remember, ill edit this post.

There seems to be a problem when trying to close a game after everyone has played, like when someone leaves and you (the host) try to close the game. The emu would just not close, sometimes I had to try and close the program via control-alt- delete and even then it would just stay there with a black screen...

That's not true, it must be another problem.... The random selection doesn't desyncs the game; it only shows you when the game is desync.

Yep, thats a bug. It happens when a player press the 'Leave' or 'Cancel' button on the kaillera window without dropping from the game first. It happens cauz kaillera wont notify the emu that the player has dropped.

hmm.... you can´t do that in the regular emu, cauz it depends on the video plugin. Anyway, you can change the video resolution while you are playing, but dont use full screen cauz is not working yet....

I extracted everything in a folder named Project 64k, and I double clicked on Project64k.exe and then a pop up error message came...
(Current GFX dll could not be used please selected another one)

It all works fine first, but as the match goes on the match on his and on my comp proceeds totally different.

It just means that somewhere along the line, your two computers desynced, and went down different paths at the same time, so his computer is still getting feed from your computer, but it is not synced to your computer. Unfortunatly, the only way to fix this is to either restater the whole game, or if there is a quit game option on the actual game, you can do that and it will go back to the main game screen and should be fine

People play conker some times on Nemu, but that's rare. People play some Starfox and Mario Kart too. But those games have a delay for everyone involved, so a lot of people just go with SSB. Also, you will see a bunch of friends play Mario Party every once in a while. Bu tthats it. None of the shoot-em-up games work, so it sucks a dick

Your adaptiod doesn't work because this vers., the only vers., only works with the original plugins. Since the adaptiod requires its own plugin, it wont work. Sorry.

That's probably too much to ask. However, if you are on your home computer, you could simply ask the administrator of that computer to allow it, they should know how. If your at school or work, where there is a firewall, you shouldn't be playing games there anyway. If the teacher allows it, then try gettingthe teacher, probably a computer administrator, to allow it.

I think even tho you select no sound, it still tries to recognize the sound card and then do the no sound effect.

Also, with a computer that doesn't have a sound card, it that computer evn good enough to play games?

yes, no matter which plugins you configure to use, when kaillera is loaded pj64k automatically loads this plugins:

Jabo's Direct3D7 1.40 (Jabo_Direct3D7.dll)
Azimer's Audio v0.30 (Old Driver) (AudioHLE.dll)

This is done cauz they are the only ones that don't desync the game

Is there a specific place to look for support for 64k? I can't find one.

I'm having trouble getting 64k to even start. pj64 runs perfectly, but 64k gives me the errors "Not enough memort for Jump Table" followed by "Failed to allocate memory" Then it closes. I never see a program window. I'm on Win xp sp1, with all the newest updates. Radeon 9800 pro with newest Omega drivers. Any idea where this is from?

everytime i open my pj68k and go to start netplay.. the server screen opens but a second later the program crashes and i get the screen of windows asking me to send the bug report or not. I'm having a bit of a problem. I downloaded PJ64K 0.13. I also have PJ64 1.6 in a sperate folder.

I can run PJ64K just fine, but I go to "start netplay", and it begins to load the list... then I get an error, and the program shuts down...

Any idea what I need to do?

Also, can I just move like, a few files form my PJ64K folder to my PJ64 folder so I can just run whichever, rather than having 2 seperate folders?

Yes, but not a few files. Cut all files from PJ64 1.6 (NOT K), then paste them all into pj64K folder.

(Doing all the files just makes it less confusing & cuts down on errors

you desynced, means that your game cut off from eachother, but the emulator doesn't detect it, some newer kiallera clients will tell you when it happens.

To prevent this, try and find a better server with less people, use a faster computer, use a better internet connection.

I'm having trouble getting 64k to even start. pj64 runs perfectly, but 64k gives me the errors "Not enough memort for Jump Table" followed by "Failed to allocate memory" Then it closes.

This Questiosn was posted sometimes, but no Answer or fixe seems replyed.

Why Mario Party 3 and Mario kart out of sync (I press right on the thumbstick and like 0.2 seconds later it actaully does the command I want it to). My ping on the server is 47ms, and my connection is set to Excellent

Sorry to necropost and bring back something this old...

But I'm not understanding exactly how to impliment Kaillera into p64k, I have the newest version of p64k installed, but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to have MAME32 installed as well, or what I need to do...

Pardon the ignorance, but this whole thing is new and confusing to me....

I am using Project64k Version 0.13 Core 1.4. The problems i occur are that the graphics plug-ins doesn’t work for me as they keeps on saying that: Direct3d failed to initialize your HAL device make sure you have a properly configured 3D graphics card compatible with Direct3D 6.0. Can someone help please? I have DirectX version 9.0c, 1.8 GHz, and 512 MB RAM, Plus I have a Radeon 9600 series graphics card.

I appreciate this thread! I've read the entire thing, however I'm wondering about cheats.

It's really hard to understand how exactly to activate them properly based on what's been said. I've been trying a LAN setup with GoldenEye and it runs without desync. The point of GoldenEye LAN is being able to use the sweet multiplayer gameshark codes, but they are long. I'm wondering if this is the problem or not. I'm confused if both players need to have the cheats window open on each pc with the exact same code list. Only the setup PC needs to worry about the cheats?

One other question, has anyone had much luck with switching up the default video plugin by renaming it to jabo_direct3d7? As in using Jabos' latest, but just renamed to 3d7. Thanks. It was a great idea, but I'm unsure if this is cause some desync issues lately on my LAN setup. Thanks.

There is a bug. in some games i noticed, like most racing games, and sm64 (just out of boredom i tried that) the game acts like i pressed the buttun a little after i pressed it. like, i press a key and then half a second later, i turn right when it should be almost no time at all.

LAN connection should work fine. Just connect directly to the I.P. (not ISP) you want to connect to. And obviously you have to be on the same network =P

(That would mean, under the same ISP provider; and home network. Basically be in the same house XD)

I've tried that. I've tried using the latest Project64 RDB with Project64k...it didn't work out so well. At least during NetPlay. Have you tested it? When I try to join a game, even Super Mario 64, you name it, it would always say I did not have that ROM on my PC. I fixed the problem by reinstalling Project64k, which proves that using the latest RDB isn't such a good idea.

The plugins...that won't do any good. In Project64k, you are FORCED to use Jabo"s Direct3D 7 as your graphics plugin. Even if you change your graphics plugin, if you start NetPlay, it will load Jabo"s. It really sucks ass, and I find it quite stupid that it lets you change your input plugin but not the other plugins. Two NetPlay users with different input plugins will have problems controlling the game. That is so worthless; it only causes problems and confusion. The only advantage to that is it lets you choose an updated input plugin with more features, and that isn't necessarily worth the confusion, imo. Even for a crappy input plugin like Jabo"s DirectInput. I take that back; it ain't half bad, but there"s no point in using that when you could be using plugins with way more features like N64 Virtual Pad and N-Rage"s DirectInput V2.

Last of all, Project64"s User Manual states that repackaging any portion of Project64, including the RDB, is not allowed. Sorry, I'm just stating the rules.

Just test out everything you change about Project64k to make sure you didn't cause any bugs next time; you might be on to something for all I know.

you guys need to read through the threads, you can load any plugin for online play with pj64k.


Take Jabo_Direct3D8.dll from Project 64 1.6 and paste it in Project 64k's plugin folder and re name it: Jabo_Direct3D7.dll

Thats it! now kaillera will load that plugin instead of the old one

Same thing will the other plugins, just rename them to the one's kaillera defaults to.

i have project64K and i want to play online but my roms are bad, when i load them from my rom directory, all four say:

Status: Good name: Notes:

Unknown Bad Rom?... (Blank)



when i go to play online i click a game i have , 4 instance:

Super Smash Bros. (U) [!] which i have, and load, yet it says my computer doesnt have "this rom"

the rom works fine offline, and it works fine and even shows its status and stuff in
Project64.

Should i get new roms? where? What should i do?

This is exactly the problem I have with Kaillera and why I'm not touching any netplay application that uses it; even though my my games (regardless of the emulated console) are known good dumps, Kaillera insists that they are bad, or the one who is hosting the game has a ad dump, whichever is the case. The roms need to be exactly the same for both players.

Well, this and the fact that Kaillera only works for me every other time or not at all. :/

I'm quite sure this isn't just a server down thing, as I can see the servers on another computer (though I can't properly play roms online on that one).

Help anyone?

The emu crashes in Mario Party 3 when someone hits the partner roulette in Duel Mode. BTW, Mario Party 3 is unstable on the emulator anyway.

memory refers to your ram. Try closing firefox or any other memory intensive programs before running it

I did that and exitted out of as many things as possible and it still comes up!
